To take place during Los Angles Art Month, the exhibition represents the artist's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles of his monumental, hand-brushed composite photographs that represent a technical and aesthetic tour de force.

Incandela is recognized for his unique photographic process, by which he conceptually merges drawing and photography. In the darkroom, Incandela transforms the images captured with the lens of his camera by creating new compositions though the combination of multiple negatives in a panorama like effect. During the course of developing the large format, black and white prints, Incandela selectively applies developer and fixer on paper with a brushas to reveal and animate selected elements of the captured image. This process also allows for him to create both warm and cool tones on the same unique, master print. Transforming the chemistry of photography into a charcoal or ink-like media and using a drawing-like process, Incandela employs his own bold, meaningful gestures to portray and retrace his subjects conveying his intuitive understanding and visual exploration of them.

The exhibition presents Incandela's newest series of works, which employs the nude male figure to explore the artist's ongoing concern with pictorial space. Exploiting the angularity of the male body, the artist make use of a bent arm or leg as a gateway or entry point into the spatial depth that the camera has recorded. Using his distinct, drawing like process, Incandela makes marks that appear to be placed on different illusionary planes of the print, the ultimate effect of which is to expand the image's perception of depth. This achievement is heightened though compositing multiple source images, each with there own point of perspective. For the artist, &quot;the challenge was to express more sensuality in the materials and their application than in the image of the nude body. The pictorial action is in the negative spaces surrounding the figure.&quot;

The School of Constructed Environments at Parsons The New School for Design will explore this question when it presents Detour, a traveling exhibition documenting notable architecture and design along 18 Norwegian National Tourist Routes. The exhibition, which is sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General and presented in collaboration with the Architectural League of New York and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, will be on view December 4 through January 19 at the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries at the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons.

Detour features photography and architectural models of key works from Norway's National Tourist Routes Project initiated by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, which encourages designers across the world to propose alternatives to the traditional tourist-route architecture, which tends to value function over aesthetic beauty. The architects and designers make structures that harmonize with the surroundings and reinforce travelers&rsquo; appreciation of the great outdoors and unspoiled countryside. A centerpiece of the exhibition is a large viewing chamber that lets visitors peek inside at a film that winds along Norway's scenic roads and bike paths and explores in detail some of the projects.

The initiative has so far resulted in close to 200 built projects, ranging from stopping points, information centers, picnic areas, rest stops, and observation platforms; including works by architect Peter Zumthor in collaboration with artist Louise Bourgeois, and Sn&oslash;hetta. The project emphasizes creativity and innovation over cost efficiency, and has served as a way for young architects to launch themselves as independent designers. Two of the earliest participants, Jan Olav Jensen and B&oslash;rre Skodvin from Jensen &amp; Skodvin Architects, have become internationally recognized names, and their viewing platform at Gudbrandsjuvet was nominated for the 2009 Mies van der Rohe Award for Architecture.

With forty-two linear feet of full-height, street front windows wrapping the fa&ccedil;ade, the store&rsquo;s exterior creates a glass-box effect enhanced by the store&rsquo;s elevated floor level. The grand 2,500-square-foot space will feature Maxalto wallpaper and wooden accents juxtaposed against concrete floors, and the collection will be showcased in a lighter palette to reflect the coastal locale.

This is the world of Give Me More, an Augmented Reality (AR) exhibit by Switzerland&rsquo;s EPFL+ECAL Lab, premiering in the U.S. at swissnex San Francisco.

The installations in Give Me More were created in collaboration with the Computer Vision Laboratory at EPFL and represent a milestone in the development of AR: a new relationship between design and technology and software that gives the user an almost magical experience with little trace of the technical thumbprints you&rsquo;d expect. As a result, technology fades away to reveal the full extent of the universe created by the designers. Are you ready for more?

<a href="http://www.dwell.com/events/green-furniture-design.html"><img src="http://media.dwell.com/images/148*148/Green-Furniture-Design-square.jpg" alt='Green Furniture Design square' /></a><br/><br/><strong>November 12&#8211;March 14</strong><br/><strong>Milwaukee, Wisconsin</strong><br/><br/>Green Furniture Design focuses on the concept of sustainable design, which centers not only around a responsible use of materials and methods of manufacture but also on issues of object life span, energy usage, and recycling/disposal. The exhibition explores how 21st-century furniture makers seek to modify our aesthetic expectations&mdash;especially when it comes to forms that are multifunctional, recyclable, or made of alternative materials. Work by contemporary artists is featured alongside historical objects, exploring roots of the green idea in furniture design.

The exhibition curators also strive to achieve a level of &quot;green curating&quot; that cuts down on this exhibition's carbon footprint. The team is scaling back the use of paper in design, planning, and writing practices related to the show; incorporating local objects and materials that do not require crating and shipping from far away places; and using bicycle transportation for objects from as far away as Madison and Green Bay. In the gallery, the design team will use recycled materials for labels and platforms. Electronically activated lighting will control energy consumption, as well.

The exhibition explores how 21st-century furniture makers seek to modify our aesthetic expectations—especially when it comes to forms that are multifunctional, recyclable, or made of alternative materials. Work by contemporary artists is featured alongside historical objects, exploring roots of the green idea in furniture design.

The exhibition curators also strive to achieve a level of "green curating" that cuts down on this exhibition's carbon footprint.

The exhibition Lost in Nature highlights selected work of the energetic, accomplished Oslo- based practice of Jarmund/Vigsnaes (partners Einar Jarmund, Hakon Vigsnaes,
Alessandra Kosberg). The practice focuses on projects with potential for meaningful architecture, most often closely related to nature and preferably in strong natural settings with harsh climate conditions. The practice explores modern possibilities with
sensual and tactile means, seeking the right character for the place and purpose. Clear and understandable strategies aim for results that are both self-evident and sensational. Larger projects results most commonly from competition-winning schemes, smaller
projects from the reputation of former clients and structures.

Lost in Nature - the Architecture of Jarmund/Vigsnaes will be on display in Steinberg Hall from Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 29. In conjunction with the opening of the exhibition, Einar Jarmund of Jarmund/Vigsnaes Architects will deliver a lecture from 6:00pm-7:00pm on Oct. 30 in Steinberg Auditorium.
