Up to this point, we have been working with two-dimensional profiles that have been relatively easy to construct because we are able to build them flat on the platform. Now that we have completed the profiles, the difficulty level quickly has become exponentially higher as we attempt to connect the profiles together in three-dimensional space.

According to Pfeiffer, the line is a take on the classic Adirondack chairs and owes some debt to mid-century design; however, it's distinctly contemporary in its restrained, minimalist features—qualities we love here at Dwell. The pieces are manufactured right here in the United States, and feature a new type of engineered wood. We sent a few questions to Pfeiffer to find out more about the collaboration, design, and material. Here's what he has to say.

In order to showcase the best that this region has to offer, Grupo Habita’s Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha decided to develop a property in the area that "combines amazing dry weather, rich new wines, incredible seafood and produce, impressive light, and human talent." And so, Endemico came to be. The project, whose moniker suggests that it is a "wild reserve" and "native to its environment," is slated to open this July. It features two main components: Encuentro Guadalupe, the winery and restaurant, and Endemico Resguardo Silvestre, twenty high-end bungalows, which offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the outdoors while still enjoying modern comforts.

To capture this oft-forgotten phase, we checked in with San Francisco coffee company, Four Barrel, a few months before opening The Mill, their second cafe. Fact #2: Manhattanites generally enjoy exploring other boroughs as much as they like the Times Square subway platform in the stew of summer. Therefore, when Frieze Art Fair–which has thrived in London’s Regent Park for a decade–chose to debut its American counterpart May 4th through 7th on Randall’s Island, a geographical curse seemed in the cards. A handsome, large-format tome, Works has all the eye candy of a coffee table book alonside Koivu's (a former design editor at Abitare) insight into the work of France's leading furniture and industrial design duo. Reached via email, she had this to say about the Bouroullecs, as apt a summation of their work as I've come across. "Their objects are artificially natural. A lamp is not just a light, but it becomes a hanging ensemble of different spots, that can shift and reflect differently with the movement of the wind. Single protrusions from the wall are small and informal shelves, which allow the user to drop off things for a moment without having to give the movement a second thought. A sofa becomes a sound-proof, cave-like room within a room (Alcove sofa for Vitra) that allows the user to hide from the surrounding action. We could say, that all their objects have a strong link to the very basic needs—even prehistoric—and behaviors of human beings. The Bouroullecs have the talent to turn any home or office into a natural environment. While the objects might be new, we are tricked into believing that they have been there forever, creating surprises and pleasure." Enjoy a quick spin through les freres' work.
